When it comes to naming a fragrance, some perfumers agonize over it while others go with what comes naturally to them. A cue from the ingredient deck, a play on words, a nod from the inspiration behind it, or a figurative meaning that encompasses it all.

In the November Collection, we invite you to take a moment to look at what goes into the name on the bottle. These few words are meant to capture its essence, in word and scent. Maybe it’s a fantasy name or one filled with intention, let’s appreciate all that goes into what you spray on your skin.

Now dive into Tonkapeach, the newest release of the Pearlescent Collection by Gallagher Fragrances. Inspired by peach cobbler and family gatherings, we love the juxtaposition of juicy comfort and warmth weaving throughout the scent and name. Next is Ode to Dullness, another new release by Juliette Has a Gun. For us, nothing about this is dull nor boring. This soft, velvety skin scent gives you permission to sink into the art of doing nothing and smelling amazing while you do it. And lastly is Be Earnest by Rosy & Earnest, a Canadian house that focuses on safe, or shall we say “earnest” ingredient formulations, making this scent EWG-certified. Give it a sniff, you’ll love the way it grounds you.

In the Women's Collection for November:

Begin with the newest release from Gallagher Fragrances, Purple Powder. Here you’ll find a balance between the mighty purple iris and the warmth that spices bring to your skin. Next, 4160 Tuesdays gives us a name inspired by London’s nickname, The Big Smoke, coined from the days before the Clean Air Act, when fog mixed with coal smoke was too dangerous to go out in. Funny how in a fragrance, coal smoke and fog tease us with delight. Lastly is Aoud Leather by Montale where the aoud and leather combo are exactly opposite of what you may think. A calm, come hither leather, dare we say there’s a gentle breeze to it.
