Do you know Dr. Isaiah F. Everhart? If you ever visited Scranton, PA, the home of Olfactif, you may have visited his museum which opened its doors in 1908. A home to his vast collection of birds, art, and natural history, The Everhart Museum delights the local citizens with highly curated displays and exhibits set amongst beautiful grounds of flora and fauna.
For the May Collection, we challenged some of our team to go to the museum and find an exhibit that spoke to them. One that pulled them close and with a perfume bottle in hand, they had to find a connection between art and scent.
As they walked towards the museum they were greeted with the aromas of cherry blossom trees in full bloom. A beautiful sight to see, their pink and white petals danced across the lush green tide of fresh grass. Aromatic immersion has begun. Stepping inside, they made their way through the exhibits of art, music, fabric and stone and landed on A New Path to the Waterfall by John Bromberg and Samuelle Green.
A joint installation of two local artists, this exhibit explores the intersection of nature and history in an immersive paper installation that replicates the forms of natural elements from our everyday lives. Imagine being in a paper cave made from the pages of old books. Close your eyes and breathe that in…now add aroma.
We hope you enjoy this non-traditional curation of this month’s collection and found it to be a fun and interesting way to meet some of the faces behind the Olfactif team with a sprinkling of new launches in there too! Follow us along on our social media @artofperfume as we reveal more photos from this day throughout the month of May.
To begin the Women's Collection for May, meet Kierstin. Immediately drawn to the beauty and complexity of this paper exhibit Kierstin chose Cherry Cherry for her museum #sotd. The mysteriousness hidden behind the words on the pages, she found the sensuous black cherry to be a perfect fit. Helen loved spritzing on some Rockin’ Rose as her olfactory connection to paper art via the beautiful scents of red roses and white muguet. What sealed the deal? The pink hue of this scent. It made her smile with every sniff. And sweet Caroline found the simplicity of Veracruz Gardens to be the perfect selection for the Olfactif field trip. It tied in the blossoms and glass-like water outside the museum with the peacefulness of the paper exhibit inside.

The May Collection for men starts with Kierstin's pick of Saltburn Driftwood for her museum #sotd. The air around the paper caves reminded her of the woody and salty-fresh notes of vetiver found in this scent. Helen loved the milky fig that lingers throughout Fig Me Up as her connection to the creamy colors of the paper twirls of this exhibit drew her in. And Caroline was drawn to the airy greens of Diaphanous Delight believing that Dr. Everhart himself would love this scent on his skin.

How about something a little sultrier? Helen gravitated to the milky fig note that lingers throughout Fig Me Up as her connection to the creamy colors of the paper twirls of this exhibit drew her in even further. And sweet Caroline found the simplicity of Veracruz Gardens and the airy greens of Diaphanous Delight to be the perfect selections for the Olfactif field trip. Veracruz Gardens tied in the blossoms and glass-like water outside the museum with the peacefulness of the paper exhibit inside. For Diaphanous Delight, she believed that Dr. Everhart himself would love breeziness of aromatic flora and fauna on his skin.
