You can almost picture the juice inside layered like a pousse-café - lush, colorful levels, on top of more lush colorful levels, so perfectly poured and balanced, you dare not rattle the glass to disturb it. This particular glass is layered full of sweet spiced, steaming jasmine green tea, wrapping its steamy coils around a juicy apricot. This trail shortly gives way, and begins, bit by bit, to reveal the animaliac floral of real jasmine sambac. As unpredictable an animal as this jasmine is, it has no qualms about quickly exploding into a sparkling, honey-sweet mimosa the second you think you’ve discovered it. Go ahead, take a long sniff through the heart of this fragrance, as the top dissipates, wait until the jasmine appears, and you tell us if you think “exploding” was not exactly the right word. At last, the honey-mimosa explosion is the perfect bridge to the golden honeyed tobacco base accord, ever so slightly caressed by the red of saffron, dipping into a wood-like vanilla musk. This is a sultry, quietly oriental, yet indulgent fragrance that never needs to raise its voice to leave an impression. Notes include osmanthus, apricot, jasmine tea, nutmeg, cardamom, jasmine sambac, mimosa, honey, cedarwood, saffron, pipe tobacco, vanilla, cypriol, and musk.
In 1983, the Sultan of Oman established Amouage in the hopes of reviving the Omani tradition of perfumery. The perfumes often feature traditional Middle Eastern perfume materials. In 2006, Amouage brought on creative director Christopher Chong, who oversaw a complete reinvention of the house and helped to expand the house's international appeal.
