Material is a paradox – through materiality, it evokes immateriality, teaching us to look beyond appearances and to realise that what matters is often unseen; an experience akin to standing in a grove and seeing in the sweltering shade a multitude of textures and manifold hues of wood and leaf and bark; all coming together into one.
Notes include elemi, patchouli, vanilla, benzoin, guaiac wood, oud oil, osmanthus, frankincense, labdanum, and tonka bean.
- In 1983, the Sultan of Oman established Amouage in the hopes of reviving the Omani tradition of perfumery. The perfumes often feature traditional Middle Eastern perfume materials. In 2006, Amouage brought on creative director Christopher Chong, who oversaw a complete reinvention of the house and helped to expand the house's international appeal. For Epic Woman, Chong worked alongside perfumers Cecile Zarokian and Daniel Maurel.
