Midnight Ride Sample

  • This is a 2 ml spray sample. Find the full bottle here.

Inspired by the historic ride of Paul Revere and William Dawes in 1775 announcing “The British are coming!” Sandy Carr used this monumental moment in the American Revolutionary War as the muse for Midnight Ride. From the start you’ll get a sense of the damp wet earth beneath the horse’s hooves on this famous ride. Green and herbaceous notes of artemisia mingle with a freshly shaved nutmeg as you fall into a wooded path of conifers and evergreens and slightly smoked woods. While a leather note is not mentioned by the perfumer, we can sense its presence in the form of a proudly worn leather saddle by an American patriot.

Notes include artemisia, dewy grass, newly budding leaves, ivy, nutmeg, gurjun balsam, mysore sandalwood, virginia cedar, texas cedar, french cypress, blackwood, aphermate, animalis hypo, civetone, dry amber, and balsam fir.

  • Sandy Carr was born in Rochester, NY, into a family who enthusiastically encouraged exploration, discovery and creativity. From her earliest memories she can recall being inspired by the natural culture of her surroundings and attracted to the sensory arts – fascinated with visual imagery, sounds, textures, and unique and compelling smells and tastes. She followed her nose to the Grasse Institute of Perfumery, studied her craft, influenced by her love for the natural beauty of Boston and the New England area. Having spent many happy hours on the trails of the Blue Hill Reservation, which inspired her first creation, she lovingly named her company BLUEHILL Fragrances.
