A woody soliflore? If anyone could pull it off, it’s the indie perfumer Queen herself, Dawn Spencer Hurwitz, and here, she shows why she’s still reigning. Take a stack of some of the densest woody notes in perfumery and smooth them out until all you can imagine is the caress of velvet and the elegance of polished ebony. Now imagine a rose slowly, then wantonly, blooming in the center, getting even woodier as it partners with a rosewood note too. Bold, indulgent, luxurious by the metric ton, and yet, this is somehow smooth and sexy as jazz at 2 a.m.
Notes include bergamot, rosewood, ebony accord, tobacco, peru balsam, rose, vintage sandalwood accord, Himalayan cedarwood, amber, patchouli, oak accord, ambergris and musk.
