Brume d'Hiver, or "Winter Mist," is a spicy, woody floral that remains perfectly unisex by combining traditionally feminine rose with traditionally masculine oud. It begins with a gentle white cloud in the form of powdery jasmine, heliotrope, and Bulgarian rose, and—like a landscape clouded by a winter mist—comes into sharper focus when the mist clears. Soon, juniper, incense, and violet step forward. It's rare that a perfume will intensify over time, but Brume d'Hiver does—finding new life when the spicy, clove-painted base heats up. It's a beautifully made perfume from start to finish, based on the 1922 original from the house of Volnay. And here's a surprising treat: Try smelling it on yesterday's sweater. Divine.

Notes include Italian bergamot, elemi, juniper berries, jasmine, Bulgarian rose, oud, incense, violet, heliotrope, musk, Haitian vetiver, labdanum, rosewood, cypriol, vanilla, cloves.

  • The house of Parfums Volnay Paris was founded in 1919 by Germain Madeline Duval and later revived by her great-grandchildren Muriel and Olivier. Together with nose Amelie Bourgeois, they have recreated the original Volnay perfumes for a modern era using the original formulas carefully preserved in the Osmotheque in Versailles.

  • Brume d'Hiver is inspired by the original 1922 Volnay creation.
