A tribute to the ritual and art of shaving in the Roman times, Barbae gives us a modern take on this ancient rite of passage. When a young Roman man went to the barbers, or tonsors, to shave his beard for the first time it was celebrated with a lavish feast as part of a religious ceremony, usually performed around the age of twenty-one. During this rite of passage, the cut beard was placed in an urn then subsequently offered to the god Jupiter. Paying homage to this ancient ritual, Barbae bottles up freshness with depth, as pineapple, green apple, lavender and mint have us yearning to visit this barber shop, every day of the week.
Notes include ambergris, silver fir, apple, bergamot, lemon, lavender, mandarin orange, petitgrain, pink pepper, musk, oakmoss, pineapple, pine, mint, sandalwood, and tonka bean.
