On a trip to the Louvre in Paris, DelRae Roth was captivated by a painting depicting the French renaissance figure Diane de Poitier. Diane was the mistress of Henri II and the great rival of Henri’s wife, the remarkable Catherine de Medici. She was a woman of learning, compassion, glamour, and guile —always dressed in black and white . She became DelRae's muse for Mythique, a fragrance built around the beautiful and costly orris butter from Florence and the flowers found in the gardens of Diane’s chateau in the Loire Valley. Notes include mandarin, Italian bergamot, ivy, peony, jasmine, concrete sambac, Florentine orris butter, sandalwood, patchouli, and ambrette musk.
  • After a career as a graphic designer, DelRae Roth released her first perfumes, under the name Parfums DelRae, in 2002. As creative director of her line, Roth has worked with some of the best noses in the world to create her critically acclaimed perfumes, including Yann Vasnier, co-creator of Début. Roth has said that Parfums DelRae enables her to combine three passions—design, perfume, and Paris—into one creative endeavor. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. • Mythique was inspired by  Diane de Poitier, mistress of Henri II. She "dressed always in black and white, wore simple but fabulous jewels, was an accomplished equestrian, and became woman of mythical beauty, intelligence, and charm."
