Amouage

Honour Woman Sample

    • This is a 2 ml spray sample. Find the full bottle here.

Much like Honour Man, this is one of Amouage’s more linear-type scents. However, there is more depth than initially meets the eye (or nose). While Honour Man was a reconciliation to Madame Butterfly, this encapsulates all the dark truth and beauty of her. However, there is a distinct echo of sadness, even through all the sensual elegance. The notes listed below all seem to come at you at once, and then slowly join into one accord that is happy to join hands and just stand stately distant, but still very real and present. The usually heavier notes like vetiver, frankincense, leather, and amber are greatly restrained, an echo of the heaviness of Madame’s sorrow that pervades, but never dominates. This scent is of a woman with a heavy heart, whose exquisiteness creates an allure, which maybe even the heavy heart is a part of - eternally heartbreaking and enchanting. Notes include pepper, rhubarb leaves, coriander, jasmine, tuberose, gardenia, lily of the valley, carnation, vetiver, frankincense, amber, opoponax, and leather.
    • In 1983, the Sultan of Oman established Amouage in the hopes of reviving the Omani tradition of perfumery. The perfumes often feature traditional Middle Eastern perfume materials. In 2006, Amouage brought on creative director Christopher Chong, who oversaw a complete reinvention of the house and helped to expand the house's international appeal.
