Golden Chypre comes to us from Grossmith, founded in 1835 and one of the first English perfume houses. Although Golden Chypre is a modern interpretation of the chypre construction, it has a timeless elegance and feels as though it could have been worn by British royalty 100 years ago. When the cheerful citrus notes jump off the skin, they conjure images of sunlight dancing on trees. The floral heart blooms into a bouquet of rose, geranium, and heliotrope, and the base is a warm blend of spices, amber, and woods. The entire composition is more than worthy of the Grossmith heritage. Notes include cardamom, nutmeg, citrus, rose, geranium, heliotrope, patchouli, vetiver, woods, amber, and musk.
Having been out of family ownership for 30 years, Grossmith is now owned by Simon Brooke, the great-great-grandson of the founder, John Grossmith.
Golden Chypre was is a modern interpretation of the classic chypre perfumery construction, which is traditionally built around bergamot, oakmoss, and labdanum.
