In Maria McElroy's Japan-inspired fragrance line, Geisha Botan is a walk in a Japanese garden. Imagine strolling the graveled path of a Japanese garden with lush bouquets of peony flowers pressed in on either side of you. Close your eyes and breathe in the intoxicating aroma. At the end of the path, the delicate beauty of the peony slowy gives way to a soft bed of creamy vanilla, sensuous sandalwood and just a hint of musk. After receiving an MFA in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute, Maria continued her studies in Australia and became a certified aromatherapist. She then spent seven years in Japan, studying Kodo, the ancient art of fragrance, and Ikebana, Japanese flower arrangement. Her perfumery, Aroma M, is based in Brooklyn but known worldwide.
