Geisha Vanilla Hinoki Sample

  • This is a 2 ml spray sample. Find the full bottle here.

Vanilla lovers, get ready to add a holy grail to your collection: a smoky, dry, non-sweet vanilla. But the real star in this composition is the hinoki, a Japanese cypress. For centuries, this wood has been prized in Japan for its smooth, hard surface, straight grain, and slightly lemony scent. It's the wood used to build ancient buildings like the Osaka Castle and the Horyuji Temple, and it's the same wood used to build the tubs in the famous Japanese  onsen, or hot springs. (If you've never soaked at a Japanese  onsennestled into the side of a mountain, put it on your bucket list, stat.) The pairing of hinoki with vanilla is an inspired choice, five years in the making, and we're happy that perfumer Maria McElroy didn't wait a minute longer to release it. P.S. How about that gorgeous bottle wrapped in traditional Yuzen paper? Notes include bergamot, hinoki, lavender, patchouli, amyris, and cedarwood.
